Tech Session - Museum of Flight
Restoration Center
January 30th - 10:00AM
2909 100th Street SW, Everett, WA 98204
A very interesting Tech Session will be held on
Saturday, January 30 at The Museum of Flight Restoration Center in
Everett. Come see and hear about the restoration efforts on the very
first jet airliner: a De Haviland Comet. The museum also has the
world’s only airworthy Boeing 247, and a FM2 Wildcat airplane that
flew carrier based combat missions in the South Pacific during WW
II. Many more interesting antique aircraft projects are housed and
worked on at the museum as well. The more than 1,200 volunteers are
the lifeblood of the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Many are retired
Boeing employees who have the engineering and mechanical know how to
restore some pretty sorry looking flying machines. But, others come
from the airlines and all walks of life. The Restoration Center at
Paine Field has one full time paid employee - Tom Cathcart, and one
part time employee. Everything else is done by volunteers.
The address is 2909 100th Street SW, Everett, WA
98204. If you are not familiar with it, it is at the main entrance
to Paine Field Airport. It is easily identified as it is the first
hanger, and has a big “Restoration Center” sign on the side with an
airplane parked in front. Parking is in the front, as is the
entrance.
Start time will be 10 a.m. Richard Oliver, our newly
elected VP of Technical, will e-mail driving directions to club
members with e-mails on file. If you think you might attend, please
e-mail Richard at richardoliver@netzero.net.
