2007 JCNA Annual General Meeting Highlights

I have summarized and condensed the business that was conducted in the meeting. If you would like to know all the details go to jcna.com and click on 2007 AGM, Houston.

The 2007 JCNA AGM was called to order at 8:00am by Dennis Eynon, JCNA President. Dennis welcomed all the delegates and visitors to the AGM.

2007 JCNA AGM Chair Dave Belanger then welcomed us and thanked us for coming.

Greg Sanguinetti, Product Manager Jaguar North America, XJ and S-TYPE and Jaguar Designated Director to the JCNA, gave a comprehensive report on Jaguar North America August year-to-date activities.

Sales Results

USA: August year-to–date (YTD) sales totaled 15,350 cars, down 31% on 2005. The total of all “premium” brands was down 2%. Jaguar’s Seasonally Adjusted Annualized Rate equates to full-year volume of approximately 22,000 cars.

The important Medium Premium (S-TYPE) and Larger Premium (XJ) segments were down in total, contracting 10% and 8% respectively. The Compact Premium (X-TYPE) and Large Sports Premium (XK) segments increased in size by approximately 7%, with Jaguar’s new XK sale up circa 70% YTD.

Canada: August YTD sales totaled 669 cars, down 13% on 2005. Notable in Canada is a historically rich sale mix, with Vanden Plas representing 50% of XJ sales, compared to circa 30% in USA. KJ sales in Canada also exceeded those of S-TYPE. Sales of the new XK were likewise very strong, at 166 cars YTD representing a 168% increase on 2005.

Certified Pre-Owned (CPO): CPO sales in the USA, under the Select Edition brand declined 30% YTD, with 8,637 reported, an important source of new JCNA members, particularly coming from the X-TYPE and S-TYPE ranks.

Strategic Issues

Ford Motor Company has sold Aston Martin.

As indicated in Jaguar’s retail sales results, the company has initiated a strategy which returns it to the “premium niche” positioning so successfully employed at its conception.

Product Issues

The first pre-production, aluminum-bodied XKR’s are about to arrive at Jaguar’s North American headquarters. Launch of production cars remains on schedule for the New Year.

Sale of the XJ models has been temporarily halted, in response to reports of possible fuel leakage under specific conditions. It appears that the issue related to production issues at Jaguar’s fuel tank supplier.

2007 production models entered production as planned. Prices in general increased to reflect the higher level of specification.

As always no information can be provided on specific future product actions. In the short term, expect much media speculation about what we are, and are not, really doing!

Executive Changes

Mike ‘Driscoll continues as President of Jaguar and Land Rover

C.J. O’Donnell has moved to England, and is now Global Marketing Director for Jaguar.

Marti Eulberg has assumed CJ’s position as Vive President of Marketing. Marti joins Jaguar after holding positions wit Volvo. She started her automotive career at BMW.

JCNA Support

The “Jaguar Journal” contract was executed and cheque request initiated in Q2.

Annual affiliate sponsorship request were funded in Q2.

Canadian JCNA Members have not received “Jaguar” magazine, as planned in 2005.

Jaguar magazine is at risk for all recipients.

Jaguar is producing vinyl banners depicting Jaguar’s logo. The proposal is two send two banners to each JCNA club.

Production of a new membership brochure stressing the club’s friendliness to all enthusiasts is in production. Available end of April.

Pending review is a proposal to extend preferred purchase pricing to members of JCNA.

Jaguar-Daimler Club of Holland Tour

The JDCH has requested some assistance of Jaguar Car, as they prepare for a lengthy US Tour, in 2007. In addition to corporate assistance with logistics, they are keen to liase with JCNA.

The JDCH ship 80 to 100 cars receiving the cars in New York on May 11, 2007. The tour will end May 30, 2007 at Long Beach California.

Connie Cunningham, Jaguar North America, gave a detailed presentation about Jaguar’s Performance Tour. Connie will take a group of XKR’s on tour this summer to 5 major race tracks. The XKR will be shown at the New York Auto Show in April and on sale in August. 255 units will be produced for 2007.

Production of the S-TYPE will end in August of 2007.

The Jaguar Journal Report was given by Mike Cook, Editor of the Jaguar Journal.

Advertising

Total advertising was approximately $75,000 for 2006.

The printer advised that the paper and printing cost will not increase for 2007.

Content

Quality and variety are the two essentials for filling the pages of the Jaguar journal. More than a dozen affiliate clubs were represented in member story contributions in 2006.

Mike assured that the Jaguar Journal would be issued on a more regular quarterly schedule. He expressed thanks for the increase in material that has been sent in to the J.J.

The JCNA Membership Committee Report was given by Dour Ingram.

Recruitment Flyer

40,000 recruitment flyers have been distributed in partnership with four major parts suppliers (XKs Unlimited, Welsh Enterprises, Coventry West and SNG Barratt). The flyers will be put in shipments of Jaguar parts. The cost to the JCNA for printing and shipping was $1,923.59.

New Affiliate Development

Two viable efforts to form new affiliates clubs are ongoing. The potential clubs are in York, Pennsylvania and the Mobile, Alabama / Pensacola Florida areas.

Response to Inquiries

Numerous inquiries have been fielded and acted upon, from existing members and needing assistance and from potential members.

Review and Analysis of Membership Data

A thorough analysis of the membership numbers during the period from 2005 to 2006.

Approximately half of the JCNA affiliate clubs have lost members in the recent past, and their losses have more than negated the progress made by the clubs that have gained members and by the addition of new affiliates. Doug reviewed charts showing the history of JCNA membership. They can be viewed on jcna.com.

Communication to Affiliate Clubs at Renewal Time

In support of annual membership renewal activities, a comprehensive message was sent to all affiliate clubs. Included was an explanation of the Young Enthusiasts Membership category, the flyer program, and the suggestion that the renewal process include a first and second notice and a follow up telephone call were needed. There were responses from only 13 clubs, a disappointingly low number, but those that were received were productive and positive.

Passport to Service Report by Sherman Taffel, PTS Coordinator.

Overview

Jaguar North America has continued to support of the JCNA PTS Program.

PTS Activity

482 PTS cards have been received since 2005 AGM.

PTS Respondent Jaguar Model Purchases

X-TYPES  50%

S-TYPE  30%

XK8 or XJ8  20%

New XK’s  10%

Randy Prine, Chair of the Protest Committee reported that there was only one protest in 2006. A contestant with a 1953 XK 120 FHC was penalized 0.5 points for non-authentic carpet openings for the clutch and brake stems. The openings in the carpet were slits. He was advised they should be holes. The Protest Committee ruled to deny the protest.

The Rally Committee Report was given by Brian Blackwell. Thirteen sanctioned JCNA rallies were held in 2006, the same number as in 2005. From the questions received not much is known about rallies by the general membership.

There is a vacancy in the Southwest Region on the Rally Committee.

The Delegates passed a rule allowing JCNA members to participate in non-Jaguar car club rallies with the same rules as JCNA rallies. The scores form these rallies would count toward the JCNA Rally Championship.

The  Delegates passed a rule setting up separate scores for drivers and navigators.

The Delegates voted against a rule allowing non-Jaguar powered Jaguars cars to be entered in JCNA sanctioned rallies once a year by rallies participants.

The Slalom Committee Report by Steve Weinstein. The season saw a record breaking performance. Karen Jones drove her modified Series 3 E-Type to a new N. American record of 38.390 seconds.

There were no problems with regard to the issues related to how slaloms are run in 2006. However there is a continuing problem with sharing JCNA numbers. This year, because of the changes in the rating of helmets, the committee revisited the issue of the use of helmets in JCNA slaloms.

The Delegates passed a rule that all JCNA slalom participants must wear a helmet designed for use on the highway or for automobile racing rated Snell 95 or newer is acceptable.

Hazel Beck was unable to attend the AGM. The Special Awards Committee Report can be found on jcna.com.

Election of Officers

The following people were elected into office:

Dennis Eynon, President

Steve Weinstein, Vice President

Sherman Taffel, Secretary

(all candidates were unopposed)

There were many Rules and Definitions to be ratified by the Delegates. There are too many to list here. On a whole the proposed rule changes and definitions were approved by the Delegates.

Please see jcna.com for the complete list, if they passed or failed and if they are to take effect in 2007 or 2008.

Cliff Burk, President of the Jaguar Association of Greater Indianapolis and North Central JCNA Regional Director gave a power point presentation about the 2007 Challenge Championship. He did a great job and gave all the Delegates a copy of his power point presentation. I will show this at one of our up coming general meeting.

The Jaguar Club of Pittsburgh gave a presentation to be considered as the host for the 2008 JCNA AGM. The Delegates unanimously approved Pittsburg as the 2008 location of the 2008 JCNA AGM.

The 2007 JCNA AGM was adjourned at 3:18pm.

If anyone has questions about the 2007 JCNA AGM I will be happy to try to answer them.
