About The Event
This Spring Thing drive is a gimmick drive with clues to find along the route. There will also be the option to drive this as a timed Rally (JCNA sanctioned event). This will use the same route as the Spring Thing “Gimmick” rally, but adding a Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) competition at posted speed limits. Teams strive to maintain a predetermined time between a handful of checkpoints with penalty points deducted for arriving early or late at the checkpoints. In addition to the Seattle Jaguar Club awards, the scores of top three teams are entered in Northwest Region and North American competitions. As the first rally in more than a decade, we will keep this event simple to see if people want more rallies in the future. There will be trophies for both and they will be awarded during lunch.
We will all meet at 9:00am on Sunday, 5/7/23 in the Safeway Parking Lot at 34828 SE Douglas St, Snoqualmie, WA. Drive will start at 9:30am and will take you on a tour of some of the most scenic roads the East side has to offer. We will start in Snoqualmie, then cruise by the fields and farms of Carnation, wander the hills East of Redmond, to the winding roads of Maple Valley and Tiger Mountain. There will be clues along the way that you can try to answer for the Gimmick part of the drive. We will end up in historic Black Diamond for lunch at the Black Diamond Bakery. Before or after lunch, we can also enjoy the outdoor Miners Memorial and Museum right near the bakery, free of charge. The drive will take about 2-1/2 hours, maybe 3 hours with rest stops.
Register here and let us know if you will be staying for lunch at the end.
